Getting to Tiree

Getting to Tiree

The workshop will start at lunchtime on Monday 22nd September, timed for the arrival of both the flight from Glasgow and ferry from Oban.  For getting back the flight and ferry leave on the morning of Friday 26 September.  However, you may choose to stay a few days longer and enjoy the island some more.

by air – The flight from Glasgow takes about 40 minutes. There are daily flights: see the Flybe website for full timetable and bookings.  The weekday flight to Tiree leaves in the morning, there are connecting flights from some UK airports, or you can travel  to Glasgow the night before and stay overnight at one of the Glasgow Airport hotels.

by ferry – There are daily ferries from Oban to Tiree: theCalmac web site gives the full timetable.  The Monday ferry leaves Oban around 8:00am, so you need to be there early! You can get to Oban by train or bus from Glasgow, or you can drive by various routes past mountains and lochs.

Car and bike hire is available on the island and there is also a dial-a-bus service.

If you are coming by ferry you will need to spend a night in Oban: see details of accommodation in Oban.
